Unarmed Security Guard Requirements in Arkansas

In order to be an unarmed security guard in Arkansas, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • No felony convictions.
  • Submit to a background check for the Arkansas Bureau of Investigations (ARBI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
  • Complete mandatory training courses.

Before getting your security license, you must complete six hours of training in legal authority, the familiarity of Arkansas rules and regulations, and field note taking and report writing.

The total fee to become an unarmed security guard in Arkansas is $77.50.

Armed Security Guard Requirements in Arkansas

The requirements to become an armed security guard are slightly different from those of an unarmed security guard.

In addition to the above requirements of an unarmed security guard, you must:

  • Submit fingerprints.
  • Take and pass the required examination.
  • Also, not have been convicted of a felony, any sexual offense, or any crime that would question the honesty and integrity of the person.

Besides that, you have to complete a 10-hour armed security guard training course as well.

This training course covers:

  • Force laws
  • Legal limitations on the use of firearms
  • Legal authority
  • General weapon safety

As an armed security guard, you must renew your license annually as well as take a four-hour refresher course.

The total fee to become an armed security guard is $77.50.
