Therefore, here is a list of reasons why you should research the company before your interview. First, it will show that you took the time and effort to learn about the company’s products and services. You are going to score points with the person interviewing you.

Second, learn who the important players are in the company.  Who is the President of the company? What are some of the departments? Who are the managers? Do you know who will be your boss, if hired? Who is the person interviewing you?

Research the company’s employees by going to the Company Website. Also, take time to go over the About Us page and any employee biographies. Don’t forget to use Twitter and LinkedIn to learn more detailed information.

Third, learn as much as you can about the company’s culture, mission, and values. Again, go to the company’s website to get a feel of how they operate. In addition, check out Facebook and Twitter to learn what the employees are saying about the company.


Moreover, the Glassdoor website helps you find the inside details of a company that may not be on a company’s website. For instance, in California, a Security Guard job on Glassdoor will have information on the salary and benefits. Likewise, additional details include reviews by former and current employees and job descriptions.

Lastly, make sure you research the company again for the latest news. Search both Google and Google News. Just add the company’s name in the search box and the latest information will appear. You may even want to do research on the company’s competitor. This new information may help you give more answers that are informative in the interview.
